Club Walpurgis, born in Tokyo's Shinjuku in 1984, was a legendary gothic party that thrived on word-of-mouth, keeping its location a secret. DJs spun a captivating mix of gothic rock, glam, new wave, and post-punk, painting the atmosphere with dark, solid sounds that attracted Tokyo's most eccentric fashionistas. Echoing the spirit of London's Batcave, it drew international artists like CULT, Nick Cave, and John Sex. Evolving through venue changes, it became a hybrid of live gothic bands and DJ sets. After a pandemic hiatus, it relaunches in 2025 at "The Church" in Shibuya, a mere 5-minute walk from the heart of Tokyo, catering to a global audience. The music fuses 80's classics with modern darkwave, offering a "Classics & Nouveaux" experience. Collaborating with nearby Harajuku and Aoyama gothic and fetish boutiques, it provides discounts, allowing patrons to debut their newly acquired outfits in its unique setting.
